A Dream Come True: Evan’s NBA Finals Wish

On June 11, 2025, a very special wish came true for Evan, thanks to the collaboration between the Wish Foundation of Southwest Ohio and the Indiana Wish Foundation. Together, they made it possible for Evan to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Evan has always loved basketball, and attending an NBA Finals game was a lifelong dream. These two incredible organizations made that dream a reality.

Here’s how it all came together:

We received a call from Tyler Gregory, Marketing Director of the Wish Foundation of Southwest Ohio, informing us that Evan’s wish had been granted. However, we had to wait for the outcome of the Pacers–Knicks series—Indiana hadn’t clinched their spot in the Finals yet.

Once the Pacers won, we had just a few days to secure accessible tickets, hotel accommodations, and a rental vehicle. Thanks to constant coordination between Tyler and Dave Seyer, President of the Southwest Ohio Wish Foundation, everything came together seamlessly.

Next, Enterprise Rent-A-Car stepped up. Evan had worked for them before his cancer diagnosis, and their team went above and beyond. When we explained the situation, they immediately said, “No problem—we’ve got you covered.” A special thank you to Jacob Campbell, Assistant Manager, who made sure we had a spacious SUV that could easily accommodate Evan’s wheelchair. Their support was incredible and made a huge difference.

We stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, just around the corner from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. General Manager Whitney Ransdell and her amazing team welcomed us with a decorated suite in Pacers colors, streamers, balloons, special treats, and a swag bag for Evan.

Our time in Indianapolis was unforgettable. The kindness and helpfulness of the people there stood out. Every time I needed help with Evan’s wheelchair, someone was there to assist—no hesitation.
